Sean McKinney of Salmon was named bowhunter education instructor of the year last year.
He was honored by the International Hunter Education Association for his five years of teaching bow hunting to youths in the Salmon School District. Students who take the course can become certified to hunt big game with bows in Idaho.
New deputy district ranger based in Challis
John Runkle has been hired as the deputy district ranger for the Challis Yankee Fork and Middle Fork districts of the Salmon-Challis Forest.
Runkle joins the Forest Service after working for the Department of Defense. He’s a Navy veteran who grew up in St. Louis, Missouri.
School receives donation
Toni Lowry, with Lowry Trucking Inc., donated to the Jefferey Lee Smith Memorial scholarship in the Challis School District.
