Landowners in the Salmon region who are willing to allow public access to or through their private land can receive compensation from Fish and Game.
Enrollees are now being sought in the Salmon area for the Access Yes program. Landowners can specify conditions for access they provide, including such options as prohibiting motorized vehicles, restricting the access period and which type of game may be hunted or trapped on their land.
Landowners who enroll in the program are covered by the state's recreational liability statute, at no cost to the landowner.
Landowners who want to participate in the program should submit a bid that includes the fee they want to be paid, the size of the parcels they'd enroll, the type of access they'd permit and what game animals are on their property. Bids are due by mid-June. More information about the program and the bid process can be obtained from Tom Schrempp at 208-756-2271.
